Vinest Wine Selection

To help promote the wines and regions involved in the VINEST project, the Network Partners have decided to make a selection of their most typical wines. To do this an international wine tasting session was organized and six wines were carefully selected to represent each of the six VINEST regions, their production standards, grape varieties, special features and wine making traditions. The first selection of VINEST wines was held in January 2002 on Gran Canaria, where, from 89 different labels, an International Tasting Commission selected the 36 best VINEST wines from the Partner regions.

Now there is a first step which is the “Local Selection” done by each Partner together with the local Vinest Network Partners. The number of selected wines is five. This local selection aims to respect the National Quality Standards, EU and national laws of labelling and also the values of the Project. The presented wines are among the most representative of each partner area, reflecting the territory and representing the local grape varieties.

These 5 wines chosen by each partner represent automatically the “VINEST Wine Selection”. The total number of 35 wines (five from each one of the seven areas) will be presented to the experts who will comment them in the presentation of the VINEST Wine Selection

The VINUM EST Project foresees two different transnational wine selection presentations to a Tasting Commission. The attention is shifted mostly in the promotional aspect of the event. This Commission is composed mainly by wine journalists.

All the selected VINUM EST Wines could appear on the market with a VINEST pendant at the bottleneck.
